Huntshoek Lodge

If you are looking for a luxurious experience, surrounded by the peace and tranquility of the African bush,  far from the distractions of the modern world, where the only disturbance is the call of the magnificent fish eagle piercing the morning skies and the lazy flow of The Great Fish River far below, then Huntshoek Game Lodge is the place for you.

Feel yourself unwind as the bush surroundings melt away your stress; recharge your batteries while reveling in the abundance of gentle wildlife and the serenity of communing with nature.

Huntshoek Game Lodge is situated in South Africa's Eastern Cape, some 43 km east of the historic city of Grahamstown.  This position makes it an easy, one and a half hours drive from the East London Airport.

The Eastern Cape is malaria-free, abounds with natural attractions and has the highest concentration of history and cultural interaction in South Africa.  Huntshoek Game Lodge, being in the heart of Frontier Country, is perfectly situated to explore this rich historical and cultural heritage.

Lodges boast sparkling swimming pools, central lounge and dining areas, and decks overlooking rugged yet magnificent scenery.

There are 5 large thatched chalets, each with a private deck and a magnificent view of the Fish River.  The chalets consist of double rooms with en-suite bathrooms and open air showers for the adventurous.

Rooms are equipped with tea & coffee making facilities and hairdryers but there are no radios or televisions in order to keep your experience an authentic one!

Woodlands Lodge

This camp is set in beautiful countryside approximately 50km from the town of Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape. The scenic drive through the Valley Bushveld on route to Woodlands is about two and a half hours drive from East London airport.

Accommodation at this camp consists of Colonial style stone buildings constructed by English settlers in the early 1800`s. This magnificent craftsmanship is a part of great history in the well know “FRONTIER COUNTRY” of the Eastern Cape. The rooms are tastefully decorated in an African theme and each is equipped with electricity and an on-suite bathroom. Camp staff have been living on the property for generations and each is well trained and dedicated to making your stay a rewarding experience.

A central dining and bar area provides a welcome place for relaxation after a long days hunting with an adjacent fire pit and lapa where tales of the days hunt and other hunting adventures can be shared around the fire. The camp offers sweeping views of the surrounding hills and is located in an area where a rich diversity of plains game can be hunted.

Woodlands boasts with one of the biggest herds of Black Wildebeest in the area and the incredible sight of 400 Black Wildebeest teaming up with 400 Blesbuck is almost mind boggling.

Haga Haga Beach Cottage:

Haga Haga Beach Lodge is situated on the Eastern Cape Wild Coast, about an hour’s drive from the East London airport.

The panoramic sea view is set in a fairytale garden surrounded by indigenous “sea bush”. This quaint private cottage is 50m from the sea and private beach. A 10 minute stroll along the sea front will bring you to the main swimming beach and lagoon. The view is absolutely breath-taking and you are able to catch sightings of dolphins and whales at play in the wild Indian Ocean. The indigenous game is totally undisturbed in this natural environment.

There are four comfortable and spacious double rooms equipped with two main bath rooms. This cottage is a traditional South African style beach cottage, a perfect getaway for the whole family.

Golf enthusiast will be delighted to know that we have a golf course within the boundaries of the resort. At the end of the ninth hole, a refreshing drink will await you in the Club House, where meals are also available. The rock angling here is outstanding. Fine catches like bluefish, silver steenbras, kob galjoen and shark can be expected when the sea conditions are favorable. Horse-riding can be enjoyed by both young and old, and it still remains the best way of exploring the country-side.

Note: this is not a hunting lodge but a beach cottage for a family getaway.

There are many clients who book this cottage to relax and unwind for a few days after a hunting trip and participate in the activities mentioned above.

Stanley Lodge:

Stanley Lodge is situated in the Makanzana Valley, approximately two and three quarter hours’ drive, North West of East London airport, near the town of Adelaide, in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.

This spectacular region is surrounded by the Winterberg Mountains, which rise to over 7700ft above sea level, forming a barrier to the moisture laden winds blowing from the coast. The Mankazana River meanders through this mountainous wilderness, creating a mixed terrain of deep ravines, thickly wooded slopes and undulating country between the mountain ridges. South of the town of Adelaide, the foothills of the Winterberg give way to more gentle country, comprising small hills, separated by dry river courses and lightly wooded savannah grasslands.

Stanley lodge is a luxurious, out of Africa style farm lodge with wide veranda, swimming pool and open air fire place.  The lodge has a modern kitchen, large dining room and spacious living area.  Accommodation consists of 4 comfortable double rooms, all with en suite bathrooms.

Mbila Bush Camp:

Mbila Bush Camp is situated on the Mankazana River, stunning in simplicity and attention to detail. Set among wild willow trees between river pools and giant rocks, the lodge sleeps 6, in three separate units, with solar lighting and gas cooking/heating. Mbila is compact yet spacious - although tucked away against a cliff face, the exterior wooden decks give an unsurpassed view of sunsets, while overlooking the Mankazana Valley.

In short, this is an ideal venue for those wishing to experience the outdoor living of Africa, but with the necessary basic comforts provided.
